Year-End Business Review for Coaches: Simple, Clear, Done

I know- it’s only November, and your to-do-list for the year has quite a few items that need to be crossed off, but this is the best time to talk about reflection, so that December can be about planning for the new year.

Before you dive into new goals or shiny offers for next year, take a breath and look back. A good business review isn’t about spreadsheets and stress. It’s about clarity.

Here’s how to make it simple:
1. Celebrate the wins first.
Coaches tend to skip this part. But before you fix what didn’t work, acknowledge what did.
Ask yourself:
  • What am I proud of this year?
  • What felt easier than last year - and why?
  • What client moments reminded me why I love this work?

2. Identify what drained you.
What did you dread doing? Where did you lose energy, time, or joy?
Maybe it’s an offer that no longer fits or a system that constantly breaks. Recognize it, release it, and make space for better alignment.

3. Look at your numbers (without judgment).
No guilt, no shame - just data.
How many clients did you support? What offers brought the most satisfaction (financially and emotionally)?  What’s your client renewal rate?

4. Reflect on your growth.
What new skills, certifications, or experiences shaped you as a coach this year? Even the messy lessons count, especially those.

5. Capture the insights.
End with one takeaway per category: Wins, Challenges, Systems, Clients, Personal Growth. That’s your Year-End Review, done and dusted.

Remember:
Reflection creates clarity - and clarity fuels better decisions for the year ahead.

Imagine a space where coaches share strategies, client wins, and real conversations about building sustainable coaching careers. That’s what we’re creating at Virtual Health Coaches- come join us.
