Ahhh…those first much anticipated warm, sunny days after a long winter… That warmth signals the change of seasons. It’s time to shake off that winter blah feeling! It’s the time of year when we tend to open the windows, and let in some fresh air. Many of us get into a spring cleaning frenzy. From swapping out all the linens and wardrobes to deep cleaning every room of our homes - we fall into the well-known steps for a seasonal reset. That seasonal reset doesn't have to stop with your closet and pantry! Why not allow the spring cleaning momentum to propel that energy into other aspects of your life, giving you a feeling of rejuvenation, and leaving you refreshed and ready to fully enjoy the season ahead of you? Here are a few ways you can hit the reset button throughout other parts of your life: Physically We all know that taking care of our bodies is extremely important. Our body is the vessel that carries us through life, allowing us the opportunity to experience life to the fullest. Doing the right things to help it run at its best significantly impacts how we interact with ourselves and the world around us. So let’s zone in on what is lacking. Do you need to focus on what you are feeding your body? Maybe you need to be eating more unprocessed foods. You may want to up your vitamins, minerals, and supplements. Perhaps you lost the inspiration to get to the gym, and a new workout routine is in order, to bring back a spark. Don’t let a full overhaul overwhelm you. What can be a micro step that you can take? Look at one new habit and build up on it. You will never regret the time and energy you spend on taking care of your physical well-being. Mentally Mental health is intangible. Because it’s not something we can see, mental health is, quite often, placed on the back burner, with everything else taking priority. But in this spring season, let’s leave the things that no longer serve us behind. If you take some time every day to quiet down your mind and be introspective, it is amazing what you can uncover. This can be achieved through journaling. You may start to see a pattern in your beliefs. Give your brain the time to give you the answers you may be seeking. You may take note of what is front and center in your mind, and suddenly, what needs to be tackled first becomes clear. Examine what helps you feel mentally refreshed and rested. Jot those restful things down, so you can incorporate them into your weekly schedule. Spiritually
You may already have ways to nourish the spiritual aspect of your life, but it never hurts to explore new ways to allow this area to flourish. It may help to put life in perspective when we make time to be present and connect with something bigger than ourselves. We can change how we react to and learn from what we experience when we view things from that angle. We can take the time to delve into what we already know or look into trying something new. Perhaps you can find a new park in the area and take in some new sights and smells, while on a walk or hike through nature. On your walk, you may want to think about the things you are grateful for or speak through affirmations. It’s a perfect time to reconnect if you have been feeling disconnected. Whether physical, mental, or spiritual, when we begin to implement the activities outlined above, we come to the realization that we are taking the steps to walk into a new season with a clean slate. Sure it may take work, but the payoff is that much sweeter when we put in that energy. Let’s celebrate the coming of a new spring season, and join in on the rejuvenation, by incorporating new behaviors and attitudes, so we can walk into our own next season of life feeling better and better.
